The African union commission committed to provide its full support to H.E. Thabo Mbeki and the consortium of African institutions working to stem IFFs from Africa. Accordingly, H.E. Thomas Kwesi Quartey, deputy chairperson of the African Union Commission and the secretariat of the consortium held several meetings in New York on the margins of the 74th UNGA.
One of these was the meeting of the former members of the high level panel on IFFs from Africa including the Prime Minister of Sudan, H.E. Dr Abdalla Hamdok which discussed how to upscale ongoing efforts by the AU & consortium to stem IFFs.
